The House

Slow Beach Cottage Rye Mornington Peninsula-19.jpg

Our two bedroom retreat is furnished in natural textures, special family treasures and coastal touches that reflect its surrounds. An outdoor deck and barbeque mean guests can make the most of balmy evenings. The living room is the perfect place to sit and chat or take a quiet moment on the sofa to read a book. In the afternoon all year round this room has gorgeous sunlight coming through the sheer linen curtains.  The kitchen shares the main living area and is the hearth of this home. An old wooden table with a collection of antique chairs sit behind an original Smeg fridge, reclaimed timber bench and exposed recycled brick stove.

The bathroom has a separate claw foot tub, perfect for long soaks by candlelight.

The main bedroom is a calm and simple space. Created with beautiful items sourced from local business Coastal Living and Elise's own furniture company, Plyroom.

The second bedroom contains a Plyroom bunk bed, king single bed and trundle bed for storage space or the occasional extra little guest.

The second living room is a soft rose hue and is the ideal space to gather in Winter by the fire with a glass of red and a good movie. This room has a collection of games and books, and can be closed off and used as a third bedroom with the sofa becoming a simple double bed.

The Property

Located on a very quiet street near the back beaches of Rye, Slow Beach Cottage enjoys an abundance of birdlife and  sunshine. With a quiet porch at the front, this is the perfect place to sip your preferred brew in the morning and contemplate. The front lawn is ideal for badminton, handstand competitions, or simply grabbing a sun lounge and reading a book.

In the afternoon after a day at the beach, picking strawberries or soaking at the Peninsula Hot Springs, head to the back deck where you can continue to absorb delightful sunshine. A sunny barbeque and dining area will make evening meals at home a pleasure. For little ones still with boundless energy, the trampoline is not far and within view of the deck and dining area where you can enjoy a local Pinot.
